In the founder and creator of Animal Flow, Mike Fitch’s own words – “Animal Flow is a ground-based movement program that’s designed to improve the function and communication of the “Human Animal’”.
For people out there, when they see someone practicing Animal Flow, they would say it looks like a combination of gymnastics, yoga, breakdancing, and whatever they are familiar with based on their experience – well, they are all correct. Animal Flow is a fitness program that’ll get you moving in all planes of motions with just your body. It is a bodyweight movement system that helps you gain more body awareness.
As you can see, it’s like no other movement you have seen before. You won’t need any equipment to do Animal Flow, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be challenging. Animal Flow practice moves your body in a unique way and this ground-based movements requires you to create resistance by pushing and pulling your body around the ground.
It looks interesting. It looks challenging. It looks cool.
But why would anyone do it? Well, it’s a fair question and here are the benefits of doing Animal Flow.
Animal Flow reconnects the body through movement training, the flowist (how we refer to Animal Flow practitioners) gains better understanding of their bodies while enjoying increased mobility, flexibility, stability, power, endurance, skill, coordination, body control and neuromuscular communication.
Animal Flow is designed to fit into your existing training program and will complement what you are already doing.
Animal Flow can be helpful for those who are doing strength training, CrossFit and runners. It simply improves their mobility and flexibility.
Animal Flow would be great for yogis who needs more strength and power. If you practise this with an open-mind, you will see the amazing benefits from Animal Flow.
Animal Flow is great for everyone and can be practised by anyone since all the movements can be modified or regressed and progressed according to an individual’s movement experience and fitness level.
It is certainly great for those who devotes lots of time doing weightlifting and strength training because practicing Animal Flow will keep the body supple and improves mobility.
